Songs for the Memory

Songs for the Memory is a stimulating group session designed for people with Dementia and their carers in and around Frome.  The group focuses on promoting confidence and enhancing the wellbeing of those affected by memory problems and is designed around the principles of music therapy and singing. The group meets weekly in the Frome Masonic Hall. Participants thoroughly enjoy the session, which takes place in an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. If you are interested in finding out more about the group, contact them by email (songsforthememoryfrome@gmail.com) or see their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/songsforthememoryfrome)

The group is entirely self-funding and organised by volunteers. Frome Community Lottery was very pleased to be able to offer a grant in 2023, to enable the group to purchase promotional materials.

Debby Webster, one of the organisers said, “We are incredibly grateful to Frome lottery for the grant we received last year. It enabled us to buy the polo shirts for the committee and volunteers and also a small bag with our logo that we handed out to all our members and supporters at Christmas. We also bought a display banner for when we attend fayres and events.

These items enable us to raise our profile locally and aid us to do the important work of supporting the local community and the huge benefits of singing for people living with dementia and memory loss. Thank you, Frome lottery team.”
